HARTFORD – On Friday, the State Bonding Commission announced $210,000 in grant-in-aid to the Town of Killingly for needed improvements to Owen Bell Park. The bonding will be combined with municipal and locally raised funding to complete the project.

“I was pleased to see that Governor Lamont and the State Bonding Commission approved the bonding for Owen Bell Park,” said State Representative Anne Dauphinais (R-44). “With all the use this park gets, it was important to secure this additional funding to upgrade the parks facilities, and overall appearance. Many people in the community have advocated for this project, and it was nice to see their hard work rewarded. It’s a good day for those who are passionate about Owen Bell Park here in the Quiet Corner.”

The 53-acre park that was constructed in the 1970’s features a track and trails, basketball and tennis courts, ball fields, and picnic areas. Upgrades to the splash pad, along with working on a pavilion are all expected to take place during this expansive project.
