HARTFORD – In honor of Dr. Seuss’ birthday, State Representative Anne Dauphinais (R-44) joined in the nationwide celebration by reading to students at Shepard Hill in Plainfield and Killingly Memorial School.

During Monday’s event, Rep. Dauphinais read “Oh the Places You’ll Go” by Dr. Seuss to 3rd grade students at Shepard Hill and “Bad Boys” by Margie Palatini to 4th grade students from Killingly Memorial School.

“Reading is an important skill that will be used in every facet of your life and encouraging a desire to read in children will benefit them tremendously as they continue their education and transition into adulthood,” Rep. Dauphinais said.

Established in 1998 by the National Education Association (NEA), Read Across America’s aim is to raise literary awareness by motivating children and teens to read. The annual event now in its 23rd year has become the largest reading event in the country.
