HARTFORD – State Representative Anne Dauphinais (R-44) visited Plainfield Memorial School to take part in their 1st Annual ‘Literacy Night’ where students and their families participated in a variety of activities centered around reading.

Dauphinais read ‘Kindness Is Cooler, Mrs. Ruler’ by Margery Cuyler to a packed cafeteria of children and their families. The book was chosen to coincide with the promotion of teaching kindness among the elementary school students. Following the pizza, salad and cookies, children were broken up into smaller groups in order to complete other literacy related activities.

“It was my pleasure to have been invited to read to the students at Plainfield Memorial School,” Rep. Dauphinais said. The faculty and administrators who put on this event did an amazing job of using literacy as a tool to promote kindness.”

“Children are impressionable and anything we can do to support and encourage their enthusiasm to read is so important,” Rep. Dauphinais said.
