DEEP to Hold Public Hearings on Two Concerning Proposed Regulations on Gas-Powered Vehicles

DEEP to Hold Public Hearings on Two Concerning Proposed Regulations on Gas-Powered Vehicles

There are major regulatory changes are on the horizon that will impact all of us, from daily commuters who need their cars to get to work or drop off their kids, to business owners who need to make deliveries or carry out a job for clients.

Connecticut’s Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) announced they are holding two public hearings and are accepting written comments on two extremely concerning proposed regulations. The first would ban the sales of new gas-powered passenger cars beginning in 2035, and the other would gradually prohibit the sale of new gas-powered trucks that are used to ship goods and provide essential services. The impacts that this will have on our residents and business owners should be a real concern to everyone, and I urge you to have your voices heard!

To this point, there is no evidence that Connecticut will be ready to accommodate this aggressive timeline. With the incredibly high electric bills our residents have been paying for the past several years, I do not see how this will be beneficial, or reasonable. Consumers should have the choice about the type of vehicle they want to purchase, and not be forced into a one size fits all approach by state government.

    Have Your Voices Heard

DEEP has announced two public hearings that have been scheduled on these matters and the information can be found below. You can also have your voice heard by commenting on these regulations and letting Hartford officials know that taking away your choice of buying an affordable gas vehicle will have a crushing effect on the budgets of all Connecticut residents.

“The findings of the audit offer a sobering snapshot of the immense challenges facing DCF—alongside some deeply troubling failures in both performance and procedure. Some of these shortcomings, like those involving the STAR group home, were already known. But that makes them no less unacceptable. Children in these situations are among the most vulnerable in […]
