Candelora Appoints Dauphinais to Committee on Children Leadership Post

HARTFORD—On Friday, House Republican Leader-elect Vincent Candelora announced his appointment of State Representative Anne Dauphinais as Ranking Member of the legislature’s Committee on Children.

“Anne Dauphinais is a competent, caring legislator whose passion for doing what’s right embodies her work. This committee tackles issues of significant importance to Connecticut children and families, and Anne’s demonstrated ability of pursuing fair outcomes for stakeholders on each side of an issue and will be an asset to her committee colleagues and the work they do,” Candelora said.

The legislature’s Committee on Children has cognizance of all matters relating to children, Rep. Dauphinais previously served on the Committee on Children during her first term.

“I have always been a huge advocate for parental rights and have worked to fight against anything that would jeopardize their freedom to choose what they feel is best for their children and families,” Rep. Dauphinais said. “As the ranking member of the Children’s Committee, I look forward to being given an up-close opportunity to look out for the children here in Connecticut while also keeping their best interests in mind over the next two years and beyond. I believe the overreach of government into the lives of families in Connecticut is prevalent, but I promise to keep fighting to keep it in check by continuing to use my voice to advocate for policies that support parental rights.”

During the upcoming legislative session which is set to begin on January 6, Rep. Dauphinais will also serve on three other committees. The Public Health Committee is one of the joint standing committees of the Connecticut General Assembly. It has cognizance of all programs and matters relating to the Department of Public Health; the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services and the Department of Developmental Services; the Office of Health Care Access; and all other matters relating to health, including emergency medical services, all licensing boards within the Department of Public Health, nursing homes, pure food and drugs, and controlled substances, including the treatment of substance abuse. The Transportation Committee, in which has cognizance of all matters relating to the Department of Transportation, including highways and bridges, navigation, aeronautics, mass transit and railroads; and to the State Traffic Commission and the Department of Motor Vehicles. Also, the Committee for Legislative Staff Internships is a statutorily created Committee whose principal responsibility is the development and administration of CT Legislative Internship Program.

Rep. Dauphinais, a resident of Killingly, has been serving the people of the 44th District since 2016. She is a past Ranking Member of the Housing Committee (2018-2020).
