House Republican Leader Themis Klarides recently announced the 2019-2020 legislative committee assignments and caucus leadership positions for State Representatives Tony D’Amelio (R-71) Stephanie Cummings (R-74).

Representative D’Amelio will continue in his role as a caucus Senior Whip and will serve on the General Law, Aging, and Human Services Committees.

“I’m honored to return to Hartford to represent the people of Middlebury and Waterbury, and I look forward to working on the issues that affect each of us on a daily basis,” Rep. D’Amelio said. “Connecticut is once again facing difficult budget challenges, and while this session will not be easy I’m confident we can stabilize state finances and provide a true pathway forward.”

Representative Stephanie Cummings, who begins her second term representing the 74th General Assembly District of the East End and East Mountain sections of Waterbury, is being promoted to serve as Ranking Member of the Commerce Committee. The Commerce Committee is a small-business-oriented committee that has cognizance over matters concerning the Department of Economic and Community Development.  Ranking Members are the minority party’s designated leaders of joint committees.

In addition to her new role, Rep. Cummings will continue her dedicated service on the legislature’s powerful Judiciary Committee and also serve on the Children’s Committee.

“I want to thank House Republican Leader Klarides for appointing me to serve as ranking member of the Commerce Committee,” Rep. Cummings said. “As a lifelong supporter of Connecticut’s business community, I look forward to working with my colleagues to find ways to bring stability and growth to the local businesses that are the backbone of our state’s economy. Together, we can tackle the difficult issues and move Connecticut forward.”
