Please join me on Saturday, June 13th from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at ShopRite on Wolcott Street for a Social Distancing Food Drive to support the Greater Waterbury Interfaith Ministries.

As you know, the Covid-19 pandemic has caused confusion and stress for families across our community, and many are struggling to keep up with bills and provide enough food following recent job losses or reduced work hours. In an effort to help, I partnered with GWIM to collect much-needed items for local residents-in-need.

“Despite the fact that the Coronavirus continues to plague our City with sadness and challenges, GWIM is dedicated to serve and we are grateful for each and every donation that allows us to provide continued support and much-needed nutritious meals for our hungry friends,” GWIM Executive Director Barbara Ann Dublin said. “Every donation will go directly to the Greater Waterbury Community and will help further our mission to alleviate food insecurity and hunger. We would like to thank Representative Cummings for taking the time to reach out to the families that utilize Greater Waterbury Interfaith Ministries, Inc. Soup Kitchen and Food Pantry.

Priority items needed, include, but are not limited to:

  • Non-perishable food items
  • Diapers
  • Deodorant
  • Feminine care products
  • Tissues
  • Toilet Paper
  • Paper Towels
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Gift cards to ShopRite

If you have the ability, please consider making a donation. Every donation benefits the Greater Waterbury Interfaith Ministries and helps further their mission to feed the hungry in a respectful and dignified manner; to empower the homeless and underprivileged to become self-sufficient; to provide hope and opportunity to those in need. Help us give hope to those who need it most!

To protect the health and safety of volunteers and donors, social distancing protocols will be followed and no one will need to leave their vehicle.

To donate:

  • place items in the trunk of your vehicle
  • pull into the drop-off area at ShopRite on Wolcott Street
  • pop open your trunk and a volunteer will remove the items and close your trunk.

*There will also be pre-packaged bags with necessities available for $5 and $10 for purchase and immediate donation.

The Greater Waterbury Interfaith Ministries, Inc. provides a Soup Kitchen and Food Pantry to its friends and neighbors in need of assistance. They provide nearly 500,000 meals annually, are a 501c-3 non profit organization and are non-denominational.

ShopRite is located at 943 Wolcott Street, Waterbury.

Hope to see you there!
