EAST LYME – State Representative Holly Cheeseman (R-37) celebrated Read Across America Day on Friday, March 1st. The representative read “I Am Not Going to Get Up Today” by Dr. Seuss and “If You Plant a Seed” by Kadir Nelson to a group students kindergarten through fourth grade at the before school program at Niantic Center School. The books were on loan from the East Lyme Public Library children’s section.

According to their website, The National Education Association seeks to build a nation of readers through its signature program, NEA’s Read Across America. Now in its 22nd year, this annual day focuses on motivating children and teens to read through events, partnerships, and reading resources.
