EAST LYMEState Representative Holly Cheeseman (R-East Lyme) is proud to announce that East Lyme High School is one of just 41 schools in the Connecticut to receive a “2019 College Success Award.”

This award, which will be presented by GreatSchools, recognizes East Lyme High School’s successful track record of graduating students who later enroll in two for four-year colleges, are ready for college-level coursework, and/or persist onto their second year of college.

“This is a wonderful credit to East Lyme’s hard-working educators who ensure that our students are continuously benefiting from a quality education,” said Rep. Cheeseman. “I am so happy to see the skilled workforce in our community growing and cannot wait to see what our East Lyme Vikings will accomplish in the future.”

GreatSchools is a national nonprofit organization that provides information on educational opportunities to parents. Key strategies that they look for in a College Success Award winner school are offering a curriculum that includes access to advanced academics, reaching out to at-risk students, conducting college counseling, holding high expectations for all students, maintaining a close relationship with the local middle school(s) and creating postsecondary pathways for all students.
