EAST LYME – State Representative Holly Cheeseman (R-37) hosted a robust legislative ‘Town Hall’ to wrap-up the 2024 legislative session at the East Lyme Town Hall, Thursday evening.
“I was impressed with the considerable turnout on a beautiful May evening, which led to thought-provoking questions and conversation. The people of East Lyme, Montville, and Salem care deeply about their state and they inspire me to work hard for them. It’s always a pleasure to meet with residents and keep the lines of communication totally open. This is how government is supposed to work,” said Rep. Cheeseman.
The discussion focused on the major pieces of legislation that shaped the 2024 legislative session including a bill she supported to study data centers in Connecticut that didn’t make it through both the House and Senate before adjournment, the current state budget, and how the House Republicans worked to preserve the fiscal guardrails that guided us through tough economic times.
Cheeseman mentioned that she has a very good relationship with the other side of the political aisle and helped craft a bill that will become law, providing for additional opportunities for affordable childcare in the state.
However, she was saddened that similar bipartisanship did not extend to giving our police additional powers to remove impaired drivers from our roads to keep our streets and our residents safe.”
