Early this month, State Rep. Holly Cheeseman joined elders, Mohegan Tribal Council members, Saint Bernard School representatives, and state and local officials for a celebration of the Mohegan Tribe’s acquisition of land that includes Saint Bernard School, and concurrent agreement for a long-term lease with the school.
The event was jointly hosted by Saint Bernard School and the Mohegan Tribal Nation in the school’s gymnasium, and featured an acapella performance by the “Tone Commandments.”
This new partnership has resulted in historically significant land returning to the Mohegan Tribe and its members, while also allowing Saint Bernard School to continue fulfilling its mission of providing educational excellence to students.

This marked the first joint public meeting since the bidding process and eventual announcement this past June, and officials will use the opportunity to update on progress under the new agreement.
