It was a great day in Mashantucket as the final beam was placed high above the main building during the “topping out ceremony” of the first Great Wolf Lodge in Connecticut, located at Foxwoods.
State Reps. Holly Cheeseman, Kathleen McCarty, Greg Howard, were all on hand to celebrate the achievement and see the incredible construction progress in person.
Following remarks by Steve Jacobsen, Great Wolf Lodge’s v.p. of development, Tribal Chairman Rodney Butler welcomed and thanked the dignitaries, state and local officials, guests and the men and women of the construction teams who were on hand to show their support for the project. He noted the facility will bring hundreds of jobs to the area, everything from the food service and hospitality industry to lifeguards and hotel management.
When completed, the facility will have 549 hotel rooms and a 91,000 square foot indoor water park.
The planned opening is being targeted for June of 2025, but during his remarks Great Wolf’s Jacobsen said he hoped to make that date even sooner.
