GOSHEN – State Rep. Jay Case (R-Winsted), joined by State Sen. Craig Miner (R-Litchfield), recognized two members of the community who recently achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. Jackson Ives and Joseph Sefcik, both serving within Goshen’s BSA Troop 35, celebrated their achievements at a joint Eagle Scout Court of Honor held on Sunday, February 24th at Camp Cochipianee.

“Honoring Mr. Ives and Mr. Sefcik for their accomplishments is quite humbling to me,” explained Rep. Jay Case. “Many people aren’t aware of the rigor and dedication it takes to commit yourself to the process and actually complete all of the criteria to become an Eagle Scout. I want to thank these fine gentlemen for their unfettered dedication to bettering our community. I have confidence that both Jackson and Joseph will be successful in the future endeavors.”

According to Rep. Case, earning the rank of Eagle Scout is the pinnacle of completing one’s career within the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) and is a distinct honor that very few scouts ever achieve. How rare is it? The BSA reports that only 4% of scouts become an Eagle Scout.
