Torrington – State Rep. Jay Case (R-Winsted) joined the governor, DOT commissioner, and fellow elected officials at the ceremonial opening the Northwestern Connecticut Transit District (NWCTD) Facility opening in Torrington on Monday afternoon. The project was funded through state bonding and will provide resources to upgrade the facility to house the NWCTD’s bus fleet.
“An exciting afternoon joining Gov. Lamont, DOT Commissioner Eucalitto, and my fellow elected officials at the ribbon cutting ceremonial opening of Northwestern Connecticut Transit District’s (NWCTD) new facility in Torrington. I am hopeful that today marks the beginning of a sustained effort to provide residents of our rural communities with better transportation options and more accessible hours of service.”
“This newly upgraded transportation hub will serve as a storage facility and charging station for the fleet of buses that are assigned to our neighborhoods! The fleet is currently made up of 18 medium-duty buses, which serve a 17-town area,” said Case.
Case and the entire Torrington delegation touched on transportation as a key issue for residents and business owners in the Northwest corner. It was mentioned that with increased access to buses, it would allow people to get to their medical appointments more consistently, commute to work earlier in the morning and later in the evening, as well as facilitating healthy social interaction.
