Case Opposes PURA Chair Reappointment
Posted on April 11, 2025

HARTFORD – The House of Representatives, on Wednesday, took up several pieces of legislation and additional legislative business for consideration. On the agenda was the reappointment of PURA Chair, Marissa Gillett. This was the most contentious item debated and acted on during Wedensday’s House business.
“Today, I voted against Marissa Paslick Gillett’s reappointment to PURA. I’ve heard your concerns—rates are too high, and her name is tied to the rate hikes that have caused financial pain. This debate comes at a crucial time, with PURA holding back over $200 million in credits that Eversource wants to distribute to customers. Plus, a new report shows rising costs for low-income subsidies, funded by other ratepayers. I’m committed to fighting for fairer rates and more accountability,” said Case.
Despite his opposition, the House ultimately voted to move the confirmation forward, largely on a party-line vote. The Senate, to date, has yet to take action on her appointment.
