Hartford – State Representative Jay Case (R-Winsted) was named as an Assistant Republican Leader on Tuesday afternoon at the State Capitol. House Republican Leader Themis Klarides made the official assignments and has asked Case to continue his role as Ranking Member of the Human Services Committee. Additionally, Case will serve on the Appropriations Committee, Banking Committee and Internship Committee.

“As the session quickly approaches, I am excited to get to work legislatively in Hartford. The committee process is an integral part of the legislature because in these meetings we get to discuss and debate certain pieces of public policy before pushing them to the House or Senate floors, where they become law. I look forward to continuing the work of the Human Services Committee so we can continue to deliver life improving services to the populations that depend on them,” stated Rep. Case.

Case and the entire membership of the legislature will have roughly a week and a half after the beginning of the legislative session to submit such proposals. These concepts are then disseminated to be considered by the specific committees of cognizance.

Case continued to comment on his additional assignments, “We are in a situation where we still need to address long-term outstanding debt, which has primarily been driven by the mounting pension liabilities we have accrued as a state over the years, as well as misguided spending policies. Through the Appropriations Committee process, I have a primary goal to fight for a balanced budget that supports an economy that will promote business growth and prosperity.”

The Connecticut General Assembly convenes on Wednesday, January 9. To learn more about Rep. Case you can visit: RepJayCase.com.
