Memorial Day arrives this weekend, and it is a time to reflect on the service of those who answered our nation’s call in times of armed conflict, and made the ultimate sacrifice to ensure future generations of Americans would remain free.
Below you will find some important information about events happening in our district this weekend to commemorate this national holiday.
MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND 2019
Monday, May 27, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. – Memorial Day Parade will kick off at the Lyme Street Fire Station and will proceed via Lyme Street and McCurdy Road to the Duck River Cemetery for a memorial service.
Monday, May 27, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. – Dockside naval ceremony with a rifle salute at the Saybrook Point Pavilion, 155 College Street, followed by a wreath laying ceremony on the Connecticut River.
Monday, May 27, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. – Memorial Day Parade will kick off at Elm Street, travel across Route 1 to Main Street, and proceed to the Veterans Memorial Monuments on the Town Green for the memorial program.
Monday, May 27, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. – Memorial Day Parade steps off at the Riggio Building by the Town Green. In case of rain, the parade route will be shorter but will not be cancelled.
