Read Across America, Southwest School

Key Takeaways

  • Official celebrates school literacy during Read Across America visit
  • Third graders share enthusiasm for series like Wings of Fire and I Survived

I was thrilled to visit Southwest School as a guest reader in celebration of Read Across America! Spending time in the classroom and sharing the joy of books with students is always a highlight.

During my visit, I read Woo Hoo! You’re Doing Great! by Sandra Boynton — a fun and uplifting story that reminds us all how important it is to keep trying and give our best effort. The message sparked great conversation and plenty of smiles.

Mrs. Eucalitto’s third-grade class was full of energy and enthusiasm for reading. Students eagerly shared some of their favorite series with me, including Wings of Fire and I Survived. It was wonderful to hear them talk so passionately about the stories and characters they love.

Reading is such a vital skill — one that opens doors to imagination, knowledge, and opportunity. I’m grateful for the chance to encourage a lifelong love of reading with such a bright and engaged group of young learners.
