On Monday, I received my 2025 Legislative Committee Assignments which are groups that are tasked with proposing and voting on bill proposals associated with various political categories. This session, which begins on January 8th, I am honored to be serving on the following committees:

    • Energy & Technology Committee: The committee has cognizance of all matters relating to the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection and energy planning and activities.
    • Labor & Public Employees Committee: The committee has cognizance of all matters relating to workers’ compensation, unemployment compensation, conditions of employment, hours of labor, minimum wages, industrial safety, occupational health and safety, labor unions and labor disputes; all matters relating to the Department of Labor; and all matters relating to conditions of employment of state and municipal employees and the substantive law of state and municipal employees’ collective bargaining.
    • Public Safety & Security Committee: The committee has cognizance of all matters relating to (A) the Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection, and (B) civil preparedness and homeland security, state police, the state-wide organized crime investigative task force, municipal police training, fire marshals, the fire safety code, the state building code, and legalized gambling.
    • Internship: The Committee for Legislative Staff Internships is a statutorily created Committee whose principal responsibility is the development and administration of CGA Legislative Internship Program. The General Assembly established the Legislative Internship Program in 1969 to acquaint students with both the formal and informal aspects of the legislative process. The program seeks to offer Connecticut college students the opportunity to gain first-hand knowledge about how state government works, through direct experience in the legislative offices.

Celebrating the First Annual Women Veterans Day

Women Veterans Day was officially established through state law, Public Act 25-20, and was signed into law just last week! This legislation formally recognizes June 12th as Women Veterans Day.
