Happy Easter! A Message from Rep. Canino

These days, there is no shortage of heart break in our world. We are constantly faced in this modern age with anxiety, sorrow, and worry. And while we spend so much of our lives trying to mitigate these feelings, we must pause today and reflect on their meaning. We live in a world riddled with sin. These feelings are a natural response to a world that is constantly trying to beat us, kill us, and tear us down. But you must not lose hope.
For you are loved unconditionally by the creator of the universe. And that creator loves you so much that he took the human form of his creation, suffering the exact pains and sorrows that we face every day. It is incredible to know that the same hand that created the universe also humbly washed the feet of his disciples. He modeled for us the service and sacrifice that we must emulate to our brothers and sisters, helping also to alleviate the pains of this world in any way we can.
Today we are humbled to celebrate the amazing life and sacrifice of Jesus to redeem our sins and grant us everlasting life. For no matter what obstacles we face, the same Holy Spirit that rose Jesus from the dead resides in each and every one of us. That spirit conquered death, and with that in our hearts, what have we to fear?
To my friends of all different faiths, know that you are deeply loved, and that you are not doing this alone. Let’s celebrate the gift of sacrifice and new beginning. God bless you all, and Happy Easter!

Celebrating the First Annual Women Veterans Day

Women Veterans Day was officially established through state law, Public Act 25-20, and was signed into law just last week! This legislation formally recognizes June 12th as Women Veterans Day.
