$800,000 Awarded in Brownfield Remediation & Development Grants
Posted on June 16, 2025
I am excited to announce that the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) released their newest round of grants through the Brownfield Remediation and Development Program, helping towns transform blight into useful spaces for residential and economic development.
The grants include:
– $600,000 to the city for the abatement and demolition of the remaining buildings (buildings 21 and 24) at the 9.39-acre site located at 70 North Street (Old Torrington Company Building)
– $200,000 to the New Colony Development Corporation for the completion of assessment and planning activities at 100 Franklin Drive.
A special thanks to the Governor’s office, DECD, and all those who worked to secure these grants and invest in our community.
