On Thursday, September 13, 2018, Deputy House Republican Leader State Representative Vincent Candelora attended the 67th Annual Meeting of the Connecticut Chapter of Healthcare Financial Management Association (CT HFMA) and was a guest speak at the event, which was held at the Aqua Turf in Southington. The theme was “The Balancing Act – Disruption, Collaboration, Leadership & Engagement” and included a full day of education and guidance surrounding the ever-shuffling priorities of healthcare with a legislative update from Rep. Candelora.
CT HFMA is a professional membership organization for individuals in financial management of healthcare institutions and related patient organizations. The Connecticut chapter is comprised of more than 350 members from across the state. These members are included in the larger national membership total of more than 40,000 colleagues from all 50 states who all strive to meet the many demands of this complex landscape we know as healthcare finance.
CT HFMA’s annual meeting was attended by many of Connecticut’s hospital Chief Financial Officers (CFO), Vice Presidents, Directors of Revenue Cycle, Certified Public Accountant, Finance Managers, and Controllers. These attendees included representatives from Hartford Healthcare, Yale New Haven and Trinity Healthcare of New England.
Rep. Candelora discussed issues pertaining to healthcare and answered any questions that attendees had about state government. Other speakers included: David Bittner, CFO of St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center and Charles Johnson, CFO of Hartford Healthcare.
