Hartford—The House has unanimously approved An Act Implementing the Recommendations of the Department of Motor Vehicles. SB 994 contains a provision proposed by State Representative Patrick Callahan (R-108) about emergency contact notifications.
This bill calls for a study on the feasibility of establishing and maintaining an emergency contact information database or a revision of motor vehicle records to add emergency contact information.
“This would provide law enforcement and first responders with contact information, making it easier to locate in emergency situations. I raised this proposal in response to a bill passed last year concerning the timely reporting by police of a death (H.B. 5349). My proposal this session is simple, making accurate emergency contact information readily available to law enforcement. This would make compliance with notification parameters more efficient — giving Connecticut families peace of mind that answers will not take weeks to get,” said Callahan.
Among other things, this bill requires cannabis to be covered in the 8-hour safe driving practices course
This bill was previously unanimously approved by the Senate and awaits Governor Lamont’s signature.
