Reps. Callahan, Chaleski Applaud Approval of Rehab Hospital in Danbury

Hartford— Encompass Rehabilitation Hospital has received its Certificate of Need from the State Department of Health for a facility to be built in Danbury. State Representatives Patrick Callahan (R-108) and Rachel Chaleski (R-138) touted the approval for a freestanding, 40-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital.
Encompass Health Corp. plans to construct a facility south of the intersection of Reserve Road and Winding Ridge Way. The hospital will serve patients recovering from debilitating illnesses and injuries, including strokes, spinal cord injuries, amputations, and complex orthopedic conditions. Physical, occupational and speech therapies will be offered, in addition to 24-hour nursing care.
“This rehabilitation hospital will fulfill an important need in the Greater Danbury area community, bringing specialized care for neurological disorders and physical injuries to the City’s westside. Located on the campus of a former corporate headquarters also puts this land back to productive use,” said Chaleski.
The hospital will feature all private patient rooms, a therapy gym, dining room, pharmacy, and therapy courtyard.
“I’m pleased that after two years Encompass has been approved by the state to build this inpatient hospital so families can be near their loved ones during the rehabilitation process. Beds of this type are extremely limited, and these services will aid in recovery from physical and neurological injuries,” said Callahan.
