    The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that a bridge deck strip patch membrane overlay project will begin on I-84 in Danbury on April 8, 2024. Depending on location, traffic patterns will be set at either 8:00 p.m. or 9:00 p.m. This project consists of the rehabilitation of eleven (11) bridges from Exits 3 to 7 on I-84 in Danbury. The project scope consists of milling, drainage upgrades, concrete deck repairs, and paving.

    CTDOT Project No. 0034-0358 was awarded to Mohawk Northeast, Inc. at a cost of $11,689,131.81 on November 19, 2023, and is scheduled to be completed 10/23/2025. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 4 in Thomaston.

    LANE CLOSURE INFO

    There will be lane closures on I-84 between Exits 3 and 7 in both the east and westbound direction between varying hours of 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.

    DETOUR INFO

    Nightly detours will be implemented at the following locations during some phases of the project. Please note that these dates are approximate and are subject to change:

    • Route 7 Southbound Exit 10 to I-84 Eastbound (September 2024)
    • I-84 Westbound Exit 7 to Route 7 Northbound/US-202 Eastbound (November 2024)
    • I-84 Westbound Exit 4 On-Ramp (August 2025)

    Any planned detours will be posted 14 days in advance to allow for proper notice. Changeable message signs will also be installed 14 days prior to any detours.
