Buckbee Testifies in Support of New Milford Rail Expansion
Posted on January 31, 2017

Hartford – State Representative Bill Buckbee (R-67) testified (click to view) in support of expanding rail service to the Town of New Milford. His proposal, House Bill 5302 – An Act Concerning an Expansion of Commuter Rail Lines to the Town of New Milford, was heard Monday afternoon before the state legislature’s Transportation Committee.
According to Buckbee the Town of New Milford will benefit greatly from such an expansion.
“We are growing, economically, in New Milford. Connecting the train to the Norwalk-Stamford and New York areas would provide a greater resource for the town to tap into a larger talent pool,” stated Buckbee. “Additionally, this would provide an opportunity for people to come visit our local community.”
Buckbee also mentioned how his constituency has been suggestive of rail line expansions for years, and is overwhelmingly supportive of the idea. Additional testimony in support of the bill was also provided to the committee from members of the public.
The Transportation Committee will now re-consider the bill. The next step is for it to be moved to the House Floor for debate.
