HARTFORD – Committee and leadership assignments have been finalized for the House Republican caucus, and Rep. Billy Buckbee (R-New Milford) has been appointed to a new leadership role by House Republican Leader Vincent Candelora (R-North Branford). Buckbee will serve as an Assistant House Republican Leader in the upcoming legislative session.

“I appreciate this new opportunity for the upcoming term,” said Buckbee, who was re-elected to represent the 67th House District in November. “It is an honor to serve the people and businesses of New Milford, and I look forward to tackling the challenging issues the General Assembly is set to address in the 2025 legislative session. I believe we must focus on making life more affordable while preserving and improving the core functions of our state government.”

Alongside his leadership responsibilities, Buckbee has been assigned to several key legislative committees, including Commerce, Energy & Technology, and Veterans’ & Military Affairs.

“Having served on all three of these committees during prior sessions, I’m eager to continue our work to advance public policies that foster economic opportunities, tackle skyrocketing energy costs, and ensure veterans can access the benefits they have earned while serving our nation,” said Buckbee.

The 2025 legislative session convenes on Wednesday, January 8th. All lawmakers will be sworn-in to their new terms, kicking off a 6-month law-making period. To learn more, visit Buckbee’s website at RepBuckbee.com.
