I am providing you with updated information about the state’s response to the COVID-19 outbreak.  It was announced this morning that Phase 2 of the state’s reopening plan begins on Wednesday, June 17. This allows certain businesses, like gyms and movie theaters to reopen, and also allows restaurants to resume in-door dining. For the most up-to-date testing data and resources on the virus, visit the state’s web portal.

     Municipal Coronavirus Relief Funding

Connecticut was allocated $1.3 billion in COVID-19 relief funding through the CARES Act. The Connecticut Municipal Coronavirus Relief Fund Program has been established in order to allocate $75 million from that federal funding pool to cities and towns across the state. For additional information on the program and how the federal funding is being allocated, click here.

Nursing Homes & Assisted Living Facilities

Updated health statistics for nursing homes and assisted living facilities have been recently updated. According to the state’s data, New Milford has reported 65 cases and 14 deaths within this population. The state continues to prioritize testing efforts for residents and staff in order to reduce the impact of the virus on our most vulnerable.

    Graduation Ceremonies

There is good news for 2020’s graduating seniors. Earlier in the week, Gov. Lamont announced that in-person graduation ceremonies could be held beginning July 6, 2020. Specific guidelines apply to all ceremonies, including a requirement that they be held outdoors and are limited to a maximum of 150 people in attendance (including graduates).

    Summer School Operating Guidelines

Summer school will begin in-person programs on July 6, 2020. To review the rules and requirements the state has put forth for schools to reopen for the summer, click here. I also encourage you to review this document, which provides tips and resources for students to safely re-enter the classroom.
