Rep. Buckbee Statement on Appointment of new PURA Commissioner Arconti

Upon hearing the news of the appointment of David Arconti as a new Commissioner of PURA , I agree with the choice of the Governor. During our shared time on the Energy & Technology Committee together, despite sitting across the political aisle from each other, David always was receptive to a conversation and would approach each issue with common sense and a rational demeanor. I also worked with David after he left the state legislature and became an industry liaison. David’s industry-focused perspective has shined a great deal of light on issues impacting energy procurement and delivery, leaning away from what we see as archetypal political rhetoric.

I am hopeful that this balanced approach will benefit ratepayers as we navigate the significant issues impacting our state, like the instability of our grid, and most pressing, the rising cost of energy. I believe, through the application of David’s prior experiences, that there will be a renewed level of confidence in PURA’s decision-making processes, one that ratepayers deserve.
