HARTFORD – New Milford’s State Representative, Billy Buckbee (R-67), was sworn-in to his fifth term on Wednesday morning as the Connecticut General Assembly convened for the 2025 legislative session. The occasion marked the beginning of a five-month long law-making period, which will conclude on Wednesday, June 4th.

“It’s an honor to continue my service to the Town of New Milford. As I took the oath of office this morning, it was a very surreal experience. I look forward to taking this opportunity to work on bettering the lives for our community and those throughout the State of Connecticut,” said Buckbee.

Over the coming months, the legislature will address many issues, including high electricity costs, affordability, and the preservation of core government services.

“Calls for a special session to address electricity rates were ignored by the majority party throughout the Autumn months, which has been a disservice to New Milford residents and businesses. Lowering these costs is a top priority of mine as we begin the new legislative session,” said Buckbee, who is a long-time member of the Energy & Technology Committee. “We must make strides in examining the cost of our utility bills, mainly in the ‘Public Benefits’ portion. An initiative I look forward to tackling as soon as our committee process begins.”

Over the coming weeks, Buckbee will be unveiling more legislative proposals. To follow the action of the legislature and the status of his individual proposals, visit his website at RepBuckbee.com.
