Hartford – The New Milford Delegation hosted “New Milford Day” at the State Capitol on Thursday. State Representative Bill Buckbee (R-New Milford), who began the tradition in 2018, was joined by State Representatives Cindy Harrison (R-Southbury), Pat Callahan (R-New Fairfield), and State Senator Stephen Harding (R-Brookfield).

The tradition began as an event for lawmakers to learn about New Milford and its dedicated community partners, nonprofit organizations, businesses, and local programs. The following organizations participated in Thursday’s event:

    • New Milford Girl Scouts
    • Goatboy Soaps
    • Kimberly-Clark
    • Neeltran Inc.
    • Village Center for the Arts
    • New Milford Police Department

“It continues to be a privilege to showcase the offerings of the best town in the U.S.A., which is New Milford,” said Rep. Buckbee. “I appreciate all of our participants that made the trip to Hartford. I know it was beneficial for my fellow lawmakers to see what our community is all about. From a cutting-edge toy company, a legacy manufacturer, to baby goats – I sincerely hope you’ll consider visiting us soon!”

Prior to the start of legislative business, Buckbee had the opportunity to make opening remarks on the House Floor. He received a warm welcome, along with the delegation, and a baby goat named, “Tiana”.

“New Milford is a wonderful community that balances the traditional charm of a small New England town with cutting edge businesses and innovative industry,” Rep. Harrison said. “I want to thank Rep. Buckbee for championing this annual event and helping to shine a spotlight on the great people and companies who call New Milford home.”

“It’s an honor to introduce our colleagues to the businesses and nonprofits that call New Milford home. They are a great sampling of what the town has to offer,” said Rep. Callahan.

Sen. Harding concluded, “I am honored to represent the great town of New Milford and all of the companies and nonprofits that make it such an incredible town. From baby goats to girl scout cookies, they have it all and I encourage my colleagues to visit this great town in Connecticut.”
