New Milford – State Rep. Bill Buckbee (R-New Milford) recently visited the Education Center at The United Methodist Church. Buckbee was invited to learn more about the programs offered by the center. In the previous legislative session, Buckbee supported a comprehensive package of new laws to better the delivery of mental health services to Connecticut children.

“Thank you to Desiree and the entire Education Center staff and team at The United Methodist Church for inviting me to meet you and talk to the students about community service and what it means to be truly part of New Milford. From infants to high school students, the center is truly an enriching resource for these kids. From asking academic questions to engaging in extracurricular activities, this place is so essential for those who participate,” said Rep. Buckbee.

In the most recent legislative session, Buckbee took a holistic approach in examining the barriers of childcare. He went on to support several initiatives geared toward ensuring students have the mental health resources needed to succeed in the classroom and beyond.

“During my visit, I was starkly reminded that should programs like the one offered through the church cease to exist, far too many children could be left in isolation. I was proud to support initiatives that draw attention to his prolific issue and establishing a state-wide Children’s Mental Health Day. I am proud of the community stewardship I experienced during my visit to the center,” said Buckbee.
