“It’s truly an honor to host the first New Milford Day here in Hartford. We have amazing businesses, greenspace, and community services in our town and it’s really important for people to learn about them and how they can be accessed,” said Rep. Buckbee. “We have a lot to offer locally, from major manufacturing to farming to youth services. Many of my legislative colleagues were surprised to learn just how vibrant New Milford truly is and I am confident many will be taking a trip to visit soon.”
“Our first New Milford Day at the State Capitol was an exciting opportunity for my friends in New Milford to show off everything their community has to offer,” said Rep. Smith. “It has always been a great honor for me to represent the people of New Milford in Hartford and I am glad local leaders, businesses, and community organizations could show my legislative colleagues what makes our town great.”
“The first annual New Milford Day was everything we hoped for and more,” said Sen. Miner. “People from all over the state got to see what this community has to offer, I know a few of my colleagues from eastern Connecticut especially liked the baby goats brought to Hartford by Goatboy Soaps. I’d like to thank Representative Buckbee for bringing this event to the Capitol.”
The Speaker of the House proudly introduced Buckbee and the new born goat to the membership of the House of Representatives.
Buckbee noted the rich history of New Milford’s agricultural industry, “Goatboy Soaps brought in two baby goats that were born recently. I am humbled to report that one is named ‘Billy Mo,’ and the other is Photi. I was obliged to introduce Billy Mo to my colleagues on the House Floor!”
Buckbee went on to mention the event was planned to fall on Roger Sherman’s birthday, one of New Milford’s most influential residents on American Politics and also former State Representative.
In the words of Roger Sherman, “Government is instituted for those who live under it.”
“The genesis of bringing New Milford to Hartford was really to show how great our residents are and why we have such a strong community. One that I am proud to share with the entire state,” concluded Buckbee.
