HARTFORD – Rep. Seth Bronko, R-Naugatuck, was recently announced as one of a select group of 30 state officials chosen from a region that includes New England, several Eastern states and parts of Canada, for the Council of State Governments’ Robert J. Thompson Eastern Leadership Academy Fellowship.

The Council of State Governments brings together leaders, lawmakers and public servants for future-looking discussions about what’s on the horizon for government practices. The Council is described as the “incubator for many of the ideas that move our states and nation forward” that’s focused on policies that are centered on the Northeast while advocating on the “federal level for programs and policies beneficial to the region.”

The Fellowship brings together the best and brightest from the council’s Eastern Region, which includes New England, several Eastern states from New York to Maryland, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and several territories in Canada. Selection was limited to only 30 state officials from all three branches of government throughout the region.

“I’m honored to be selected and I wanted to thank the Council for the opportunity,” Rep. Bronko said. “I’m looking forward to collaborating with fellow public servants from across the Eastern Region to broaden my policy expertise and enhance my leadership skills so I can better represent Naugatuck while working at the Capitol.”

Those selected are expected to meet in late August in Philadelphia where they will receive “training to enhance their leadership and communication skills from a variety of experts in media, education and government.”
