Rep. Bronko Joins in Groundbreaking of New Naugatuck Train Station

NAUGATUCK – Rep. Seth Bronko, R-Naugatuck, joined in the groundbreaking on the latest chapter for Naugatuck during a recent ceremony to mark the construction of Naugatuck’s new train station.
Rep. Bronko stood alongside local, state, and federal leaders for the groundbreaking—a project that will breathe new life into a property that has sat vacant for years.
This isn’t just about a train station—it’s about revitalization, economic opportunity, and connecting our community with other towns along the Waterbury Branch Line, he said. For decades, that stretch of land near Rubber Avenue and Old Firehouse Road has been vacant, and the project marks the first steps to transform it into a modern transportation hub that will serve commuters, attract investment, and support future growth.
Eighty percent of the project is federally funded and will feature a 350-foot-long high-level platform with a snow melt system, ADA-compliant access via an elevator and stair tower, real-time arrival and departure displays, and a passenger waiting area equipped with a ticket vending machine. It will also offer 72 on-street parking spaces. The two-story station building will be approximately 2,300 square feet, with a platform area of about 4,400 square feet and is scheduled to open in summer 2027.
