HARTFORD – A bill co-sponsored by Rep. Seth Bronko, R-Naugatuck, that will create a new law focused on combating crimes against minors gained passage in the House this week.
H.B. 6737, An Act Establishing the Crime of Harmful Communication with a Minor, would make it a crime to use an interactive computer service or text message service to knowingly persuade, induce, entice, or coerce a minor. It would also make it illegal to share a photographic or recorded image of the minor or distribute the image to others.
“I was proud to support legislation that will provide police and prosecutors with another tool to combat crimes against minors by holding offenders accountable for their actions,” Bronko said.
The legislation now awaits passage in the Senate.
