HARTFORD – Applications will open on Tuesday, Sept. 3 for $5 million in state funding that has been allocated for a micro-grant program to help small businesses in western Connecticut rebuild and recover from the record rainfall and flooding.
The state has partnered with the Women’s Business Development Council to administer the grant program. The WBDC is administering the grant, but it is open to all qualifying businesses.
Grants of up to $25,000 are available for small businesses and nonprofit organizations in Fairfield, Litchfield, and New Haven Counties that experienced damage from the floods. Grants can be used to cover various expenses to help in the recovery, including those associated with cleanup efforts, replenishing lost inventory, and replacing equipment.
To be eligible to receive the funding applicants must:
- Have a business based in Fairfield, Litchfield, or New Haven County
- Have fewer than 100 employees
- Have experienced damage and/or loss of revenue as a result of the flooding
Businesses that apply for the grant will be subject to a random site visit before funding is awarded.
Applications open this Tuesday, September 3 and will be reviewed on a rolling basis until funds are exhausted. You can learn more about this grant program here.
