HARTFORD – As part of the 2024 Legislative Session Rep. Seth Bronko, R-Naugatuck, co-sponsored several pieces of important legislation that gained passage in the House. Each of the bills below was personally important to Rep. Bronko, including establishing a 100% exemption of property tax or motor vehicle tax for veterans who have a total and permanent disability.
The House also passed legislation that enhances penalties against people convicted of violating street takeover laws, including the permanent revocation of a driver’s license after the third offense. Rep. Bronko also voted in support of legislation that would allow municipal Police or Fire Chief to declare that a police officer or uniformed paid or volunteer firefighter died in the line of duty if the death was caused by a cardiac event, stroke, or pulmonary embolism within 24 hours after the officer or firefighter finished their shift or completed training.
And Rep. Bronko voted in favor of a bill that he co-sponsored that would allow military veterans who have the necessary skills and military training to apply for a waiver to operate fire vehicles in Connecticut. This legislation offers the opportunity for our veterans and service members to continue serving their communities right here at home and help local departments with recruiting new volunteers.
These bills now await passage in the Senate, which is set to adjourn next week on May 8.
