The Office of Legislative Research, the non-partisan office within the Connecticut General Assembly, puts together a number of reports regarding various topics that passed during the legislative session pertaining to the residents of Connecticut.

This office has recently released their 2021 Major Public Acts publication and I wanted to share this information with you.  More specific reports are to follow, but this outlines many of the major bills that may affect you.

Just a few highlights from the report and other initiatives I supported include:

  • A new law prohibits age discrimination during the employment application process (PA 21-69).
  • A new law expands eligibility for the local option Elderly Tax Freeze Program by decreasing the program’s minimum age requirement from 70 to 65 years (PA 21-84).
  • A new law which makes changes related to the handling of sexual misconduct at higher education institutions (PA 21-81).
  • A new law contains several provisions aimed at expanding access to broadband Internet service throughout the state (PA 21-159).
