The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing a nighttime milling and resurfacing project to be performed on US Route 6 / State Road 911, Mount Pleasant Road from the Bethel town line to where Route 6 is Main Street and turns east at the flagpole, becoming Church Hill Road. From the flagpole, Church Hill Road will also be milled and paved, except for the newer sections between Newtown Hardware and the I-84, Exit 10 bridge, as well as the recently improved area around Church Hill Village. This project was planned and budgeted in DOT’s 2020 Resurfacing Program.
TIMELINE
The milling on this nighttime project is scheduled to occur on Tuesday, June 16, 2020 and completion planned by Thursday, June 25, 2020. The resurfacing part of this project is scheduled to begin Thursday, July 9, 2020 and be completed Tuesday, July 21, 2020, unless weather or unforeseen conditions come into play. The regular work schedule for this project is 7:00 pm to 5:00 am, Sundays through Thursdays. No Friday or Saturday night work is planned.
LANE CLOSURE INFO
Motorists can expect delays and one-way alternating traffic. Traffic control personnel and signing patterns will be utilized to guide you through the work zones, when active. When not active, please be careful of uneven, rough, milled surfaces and watch for raised utility structures that will be highlighted with florescent paint, for visibility. If you’re riding a motorcycle, a bicycle, running or walking, pay special attention.
Again, the regular work schedule for this project is 7:00 pm to 5:00 am Sundays through Thursdays.
It’s a jungle out there! So, please be patient, leave extra time and, if possible, plan to detour using I-84 or local through streets, especially in the early evening hours. We all share these roads, so please be considerate and aware of other road users, maintain a safe speed and allow appropriate following distance.
