The legislature is always looking at ways in which it can help people. As a founding member of the legislature’s Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities caucus, Rep. Bolinsky participated in the ARC Family Day. According to Rep. Bolinsky, he heard compelling stories about how important it is to continue funding life-improving services, like day programs. Through continued advocacy, elected officials can work with families to reverse negative stigma about the I/DD community and ensure that quality resources are always available to them.

Rep. Bolinsky said, “The I/DD community is among the best advocates in the state for positive change in the lives of 55,000 families in CT supporting the special needs of folks with intellectual or developmental disabilities. All they ask is a better life and the opportunities to evolve care to a more contemporary, community-based independent care model that works wonders.”
