*** EXTENSION OF LOST WAGES PROGRAM ***

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

I know some of us are still struggling with reduced or lost wages in these challenging times so, I wanted to be certain you knew the state Department of Labor announced this week that the Lost Wages Assistance program has been extended for another week for a total of six weeks of benefits, with certification for the program now open to all claimants

The federal program gives an additional $300 per week benefit for eligible claimants who were unemployed or partially unemployed due to COVID-19.

  • New unemployment claimants and existing state and extended benefits claimants are required to self-certify on the DOL website.
  • Existing Pandemic Unemployment Assistance claimants have already self-certified and do not need to do anything to receive the additional benefit.

A total of six weeks of Lost Wages Assistance will be paid in additional to regular unemployment weekly benefits and will be retroactive to the claim week beginning July 26. It will also be available for claim weeks beginning August 2, 9, 16, 23, and 30. Claimants will receive the supplemental benefit in several payments.

The first payment of $300 is expected to be disbursed to claimants beginning September 17, with the remainder of retroactive payments following in two or three separate payments.

As always, please do not hesitate to contact me with questions or concerns about any state government matter at Mitch.Bolinsky@housegop.ct.gov or call 1.800.842.1423.

Be well. Stay safe. Spread only hope.

Sincerely,

State Rep. Mitch Bolinsky, 106th District
