Newtown – With the 2019 Legislative Session beginning tomorrow, State Representative Mitch Bolinsky (R-Newtown) hosted a community-wide Legislative Listening Session on Monday, January 7, at the C.H. Booth Library. Bolinsky facilitated the discussion, which covered a range of topics from taxes, local and state road improvements, cost of living challenges, the state budget and concerns about how it could all impact us in Greater Newtown. There was also a great deal of focus and collaboration for civil discourse when crafting public policy. Rep. Bolinsky stated, “Through a healthy vetting process, which requires input from both sides of the political aisle and key stakeholders, the legislature can create policy that is rooted in the middle and beneficial for all Connecticut residents. A good example of this was in 2017 when the legislature passed a truly bi-partisan budget, marking the beginning of critical changes to the way we conduct business in Hartford. I encourage all Newtown residents to reach out to me with concerns or suggestions throughout this upcoming legislative session.”
