NEWTOWN SENIOR CITIZEN APPRECIATION DAY — Newtown’s state delegation was able secure a proclamation from the Office of Gov. Dannel P. Malloy declaring April 16, 2015 Newtown Senior Citizen Appreciation Day in the State of Connecticut. The proclamation was delivered that day during a gathering at the Senior Center that had been organized by Newtown residents Rudy Magnan and Stephen Rosenblatt.

Seniors in attendance spoke to their legislators and First Selectman Pat Llodra about local and state issues before enjoying a dinner that had been generously donated by the following local businesses: Caraluzzi’s Market, Big Y, My Place, and Atalanta Cheese. Celebrating the occasion are, from left, Mr. Rosenblatt, state Rep. Mitch Bolinsky (R-106), Senior Center Director Marilyn Place, state Sen. Tony Hwang (R-28), Mrs. Llodra, and state Rep. J.P. Sredzinski (R-112). (State Rep. Dan Carter (R-2) had a schedule conflict and couldn’t attend; Mr. Magnan was picking up the pizza when the photo was taken.)
