Candelora and O’Dea Statement on Republican amendment requiring governor to hold public hearings on new executive orders
HARTFORD—House Republican Leader Vincent Candelora (R-86) and Deputy Republican Leader Tom O’Dea (R-125) today issued the following statement after House Democrats prevented a vote on a Republican amendment (LCO 11114) during debate over whether to extend the governor’s emergency declarations: “We continue to be disappointed by Democrats’ willingness to prevent their constituents from adding their voices to the conversation on decisions Gov. Lamont is making through his emergency declarations, today even blocking a vote on our simple amendment to require his administration to hold a public hearing when he issues an executive order. These orders have far-reaching impact on the lives of Connecticut residents, and the day for them to have the say is long overdue. Unfortunately, our colleagues see it differently.”
