Rep. Sam BelsitoState Rep. Sam Belsito proudly represents the 53rd General Assembly District, which encompasses Ashford, Willington, and part of Tolland.

He was elected to his first term in a Special Election in June of 2013 and was sworn into office on June 19th. He was re-elected to serve his second full term in November 2016.

Sam currently serves on the legislature’s Appropriations, Education, and Planning and Development Committees.

Representative Belsito and his wife, Paulette, have been married 47 years and have been Tolland residents since 1969. Sam and Paulette have three children, Dr. Karin M. Belsito-Donahue, M.D., D.M.D., of Bethesda, MD, Joel E. Belsito of Coventry, CT and Sam Belsito III of Coventry, CT. All children are graduates of the Tolland Public School System. Sam and Paulette have eight grandchildren.

Sam holds degrees from the New England School of Accounting, Worcester, MA, Leicester Jr. College, Leicester, MA, Nichols College, Dudley, MA (BBA), Western New England College, Springfield, MA (MBA) and the University of Connecticut at Storrs, CT (BGS).

Sam is also a graduate of Massachusetts Military Academy where he was commissioned, 2nd Lieutenant. He achieved the rank of 1st Lieutenant in the MA and CT Army National Guard.

Representative Belsito formerly worked as an Assistant Buyer at G. Fox & Co., Hartford, CT, Cost Accountant at United Aircraft-Pratt & Whitney, Hartford, CT, Financial Analyst at Veeder-Root Industries Corporate Headquarters, Hartford, CT. and Associate Comptroller at Smith & Wesson Inc., Springfield, MA. He holds a CT Real Estate License & Financial Certificates from The American College.
Sam opened and currently operates his men’s clothing & tuxedo business, Samuel LTD Tux King in Vernon in 1974.

Representative Belsito was elected to the Tolland Town Council in 2011. He earned a reputation as a strong, independent voice for small businesses, fiscal responsibility, and efficient government. He served on Tolland Town Conversation Groups, Housing for the Elderly, Food Share, and other Tolland Town committees.
