While early voting adopted by voters in 2022 preceded my time in the legislature, the General Assembly did authorize in-person voting last session for elections after April 1, 2024. The first election that falls under early voting will be the Presidential Preference Primary on April 2, 2024.
The early voting dates for this election have been modified to reflect the Good Friday holiday and Easter Sunday. Early Voting will be held Tuesday, March 26 through Thursday, March 28 and Saturday, March 30.…

HB 5324 – This bill prohibits law enforcement officers from stopping drivers for what have been deemed “secondary violations” -this includes inoperable or broken taillights and/or headlamps, license plate infractions, expired registrations, tinted windows. Often law enforcement officers use these violations as a way of establishing probable cause to pull over a vehicle and begin an investigation into a more serious crime.

SB 277, An Act Restoring Services on the Shore Line East Rail Line, would restore Shore Line East rail service to the level that existed prior to the pandemic.

TAX CUTS
The state budget, adopted in June, cuts the bottom two marginal income tax rates for all filers from 3% to 2% and from 5% to 4.5%. Income taxes on the first $50,000 in taxable income will be lowered for single filers and married people filing separately, $100,000 for joint filers, and $80,000 for heads of household. Yesterday, I was invited to attend a briefing by representatives from the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection’s Parks, Forestry, and Engineering departments on an upcoming paving project at Chatfield Hollow State Park.
