At a time when skilled manufacturing jobs are in high demand, Westbrook High School has unveiled their brand-new Welding and Fabrication Lab, opening the door to students who are interested in pursuing a career in the industry.
Thanks to a partnership with Electric Boat, students who have completed the first half of the course curriculum, mirrored after the American Welding Society Professional certification standards, will have an opportunity to receive a paid internship with the company.
Within the welding and fabrication lab, students will use the types of industry-standard machines that they will encounter in the field, giving them the jump they need in today’s job climate.
