A top priority of my House Republican colleagues this session was an initiative to assist the families of law enforcement officers tragically killed in the line of duty. I’m happy to report that earlier this week this initiative was signed into law.
Public Act 24-27 creates a Fallen Officers Fund to provide financial support to the surviving family along with any other benefits for which the officer is eligible.
This passage of this legislation is just one small way that we can show our law enforcement community that we stand behind them and the work they do on a daily basis to keep our communities and our state safe.
