HB 5324 – This bill prohibits law enforcement officers from stopping drivers for what have been deemed “secondary violations” -this includes inoperable or broken taillights and/or headlamps, license plate infractions, expired registrations, tinted windows. Often law enforcement officers use these violations as a way of establishing probable cause to pull over a vehicle and begin an investigation into a more serious crime.

Last week, I had another opportunity to visit a local school in my district as part of Read Across America. I’d like to send out my appreciation to Joel Elementary School for inviting me back for a second straight year and to Mrs. Clados and her second-grade class for having me as a guest reader.
Regardless of the schools I’ve had an opportunity to read in, the educators and staff really do a fantastic job at making this annual event engaging and fun for not only the students, but also visitors

Transportation Committee Public Hearing to Address Shore Line East Rail Service

SB 277, An Act Restoring Services on the Shore Line East Rail Line, would restore Shore Line East rail service to the level that existed prior to the pandemic.

The public hearing will begin at 10:00 a.m. in Room 1D of the Legislative Office Building, 300 Capitol Ave., Hartford.
